LINCOLN, Neb., June 13.
The Constitutional Convention was called to order at 2 this afternoon by Mr. Kirkpatrick, of Cass. McCann, of Otoe, was, by acclamation, chosen temporary President; L. E. Cropsey and H. M. Judson temporary Secretaries. Fifty members were present. Absentees—Wakeley and Robinson. On the first ballot for permanent President, Mr. Strickland received 20, Mason 13, Thomas 7, scattering 10. The second ballot resulted: Strickland 26, Mason 16, scattering 7. L. L. Holbrook was elected Secretary by 26 votes; Assistant Secretary, L. E. Cropsey; Sergeant-at-Arms, E. L. Clark, Jr., of Seward.
