ACTUAL WAR.
That Great Britain is now at actual war with the United States, (as far as that can be called war where all the fighting is on one side) is sufficiently evident.
They capture and condemn our ships, and compel the prisoners to "bear arms against their countrymen."
The very vessels which commit these acts, enter into our waters, in defiance of every law but that of force or power.
They "are endeavoring to stir up the merciless Indian savages on our frontier."
They are encompassing our territory with ships by sea, and armies by land.
Did Denmark consider the burning of Copenhagen and the plunder of their fleet any less an act of war than if a formal declaration to that effect had been issued by the British government?
Did Spain consider the capture of her treasure-ships in any better light than if Great Britain had previously declared war against her?
When we have such evidence that Great Britain has renounced those principles of honor which have heretofore distinguished civilized society from the savage state, it becomes us to be prepared. Let us, therefore, watch our enemies both external and internal.

Great Britain is at actual war with the United States through capturing and condemning ships, compelling prisoners to fight against their countrymen, entering American waters defiantly, stirring up Indian savages on the frontier, and encompassing territory with ships and armies. Analogies to undeclared wars against Denmark and Spain highlight the renunciation of honorable principles, calling for preparation and vigilance against external and internal enemies.
