Purchases of Supplies In Quantities Sought
EDINBURG, Nov. 10(Spl)—The county commissioners court today studied the advisability of retaining a state chemical engineering firm to analyze fuel and other supplies as an economy move.
C. B. Boon, representative of the Trinity Testing Laboratories of Austin, appeared before the court explaining the advantages of testing specifications of supplies and materials used by the county.
Boon said his firm would study equipment now owned by the county in order to determine the specifications of fuel that would be most suitable, and that the fuel could then be purchased in large quantities. His firm would also test the fuel when received to see that it met specifications.
It was pointed out that the county in the past has been purchasing fuel and supplies in small quantities. Through the purchase of these items in larger quantities, considerable money could be saved, officials said.
The court this morning also approved the bonds of Orin Anderson, deputy public weigher of Precinct Two, and Ruth Loensbury, deputy public weigher of Precinct Eight.
