A CONFIDENCE MAN CAUGHT.

A well-dressed man, who said that his name was George J. Williams, purchased a pair of diamond ear-rings at Tiffany's yesterday for $150 and ordered them sent to No. 10 East Fifteenth-st., where he would pay for them. The porter who delivered the ornaments received a check which he mistrusted. While he was examining it Mr. Williams attempted to run away. He was arrested and taken to Police Headquarters. The check was found to be worthless. Williams is a confidence man, whose real name is Johnson.
