Ohio.

The whigs of the Buckeye State, held a general mass meeting in Columbus on the 22d ult, when Mordecai Bartley of Richland county was nominated for Governor. The meeting was large, and enthusiastic—canoes upon wheels, long poles & banners, with other things equally significant, proclaimed the approach of another campaign which shall equal in dignity the one of '40. It will be a delightful time for little urchins, to witness the gorgeous pageantry of whig mass meetings. The influence which such shows must have, upon the character of that interesting portion of our race, the rising generation, will be so fine, that great things should be expected from our successors! How inspiring it must be to their little hearts, to see their dear papas riding around in long painted canoes, singing whig songs, and engaging in all the dignified and intellectual scenes of a mass meeting!
