Is making ample strides, and the appointment of Mr. WASHINGTON to the office of Chief Magistrate, was a measure most conducive to that end. Her empire, in course of time, must be great and respectable. Her sea coasts are two thousand miles in extent, with bays and rivers, like seas to ten times that extent -with many great harbours, and other places of security for great ships in the middle and northern provinces—with vast fisheries in those bays and rivers on the sea coast, and access to still greater on the north, to the south and to the east of their dominions--with seas, except in one or two places, open all the year round to give continual employment to the seamen--and with no enemies near those States to controul them. Compare facts, and it must appear that America is formed by nature to become a great maritime power to rival that of England : But Prussia, by nature, precluded from all chance of it, and formed to be upheld by England against the injuries of her northern neighbours in the Baltic, and in return to uphold, not to overturn, the English maritime empire.

America is making ample strides, with the appointment of Mr. WASHINGTON to Chief Magistrate aiding this. Describes America's extensive sea coasts, harbors, fisheries, open seas, and lack of nearby enemies, positioning it to become a great maritime power rivaling England. Contrasts with Prussia, which is land-bound and supported by England against northern threats, in turn upholding England's maritime empire.
