Full Text

NO HOUSES

Houses are so scarce in Lenoir that people have been forced to occupy tents.

There is a sprinkling of canvas domiciles in the Valmead section and realtors all over the town are seeking homes for families. John Gibbons, trouble shooter for the Southern Public Utilities Company and who keeps daily "tab" on vacancies, says "there's not a vacant house in town and no rooms to rent to his knowledge."

He reported in May, this year, that there were 28 vacancies, but there are none today.

"To my knowledge," he said, "there are ten families seeking places to live. Several persons are holding up families who have bought their homes because they can't find a place to move."
