WEEKLY SUMMARY.

Fire.—Between 10 and 11 o'clock last night, Haxall's Mills, on the margin of the James River, were observed to be on fire. The engines repaired to the spot with their usual promptitude, but from the inaccessible position of the buildings, and the head the fire had got, it was soon found impossible to subdue it. There being a considerable quantity of wheat and flour in the mills, they burnt with extraordinary fury and splendor for an hour. A dwelling and some small houses on the premises, were likewise consumed. It was reported on the ground, that the property was insured for something like $30,000—and that there were 500 barrels flour and some 6 or 700 bushels wheat on hand. The fire commenced in one of the upper stories, from which, and from the circumstance that the mills were not grinding yesterday, it is surmised to have been the work of an incendiary.—Whig.
