Saturday a Journeyman Calico Printer at Old Ford, who had a Wife and seven small Children, for whom, as he had but 15 s. a Week, and received no Assistance from his Family, he found it impossible to make due Provision in these dear Times, cut his Throat in Despair. A humane Lady in the Neighbourhood, who had so often assisted him and his Family, sent for a Surgeon; but he refused to live, like another Cato, and would not even let his Wound be bound up, that he might not have the Trouble of tearing it open. He died on Tuesday.
