By Capt. Stowell, from Hamburg, we learn that when the French were at Frankfort, they gave out, that they should visit Hamburg. Alarmed at the threat, the Hamburgers requested the Prince of Denmark to negotiate with the French not to put their threat in execution, and to make an offer of a contribution.
A few days before Capt. S. sailed, the Prince returned from the French camp; which occasioned great rejoicing, demonstrated by illuminations, firing of guns, and a procession on horseback of all the burghers in the streets in martial uniform, preceded by music. The national cockade is much worn at Hamburg, and it is the general opinion the French will compel that city to become subject to Denmark.
