TIES PILED ON TRACK.

Two Attempts Made to Wreck Trains Near Winchester.

Two determined efforts were made Tuesday morning to wreck trains of the Baltimore & Ohio railroad two miles south of Winchester.

When the eastbound freight was approaching that city at high speed Engineer Charles Payne saw over twenty railroad ties piled upon the track, but was able to stop his train just as the ties were reached.

Several hours later a westbound train was approaching the same spot and the engine saw the same ties piled on the track just in time to stop the train before running into the obstruction.

Detectives were immediately sent out and the entire country was searched without locating the would-be train wreckers.
