PINTO BEAN TAKES
PLACE OF CHILI BEAN

DALLAS
Texas. July 21—Among
other things, the war has had its effect upon the lowly chili bean.
The
chili bean, or frijole as it is more commonly known in Texas, being of Spanish origin, is used to a great extent
in army rations.
With an apparent
scarcity in this article, the Pinto bean
is the new comer in bean-dom.
It has been discovered that the Pinto
is far superior in the making of chili
to the frijole. Though the Mexican
bean may have recommendations of a
romantic nature and may be heir to
legends dating back to the time the
beans were first introduced, it is being
rapidly replaced in the chili industry
by the Pinto.
