Winfred Nowlin, well known local young man and coal operator at McCarr, Ky., was elected president of the Williamson junior chamber of commerce at a meeting Tuesday night in the Coal House.
He succeeds Noah Maynard.
Maynard reported a record attendance at the meeting, which also featured plans for the annual installation and "ladies night" banquet May 4 at the Mountaineer hotel.
Bennett D. Taylor, Jr., field Scout executive for the Mingo-Pike area, was elected first vice president; Emmett Steele affiliated with the Steele Furniture Co., was chosen second vice president; Ray Blankenship, of the Central Glass Co., secretary; and Phil Abraham, of Eddy's restaurant, treasurer.
Other local young businessmen who were named on the board of directors are: John Patrick, G. D. Poole, Jr., R. T. Price, Jr., Oliver Stacy, Charles Ratcliffe, and James Smith. Noah Maynard will serve as the ex-officio member.
Arrangements for ladies night are in charge of a committee composed of Dr. Walter Feldman, chairman, Emmett Steele, Ray Blankenship, and Conley Bevins.
