From the Boston Patriot.
SOMETHING CURIOUS FROM THE MONTREAL PAPER.
The enemy at Montreal, seem to be quite out of patience, and all in a fret, at the sluggish and dastardly conduct of their friends in Boston. They upbraid them for substituting a Remonstrance to Congress instead of taking up arms. They say. "If our memory is not treacherous, we think that Mr. Quincy and other Senators, did threaten an appeal to arms some years ago; but remonstrances continue, and promises are unfulfilled! How degenerated the spirit of '76!" Montreal Herald, July 3d.
Then follows an article complaining of our naval dinners, and our mourning and hoisting our flags half mast high in sorrow for the loss of the Chesapeake—They intimate that they did not expect this from their friends in Boston—Was Quincy's resolution contrived to satisfy them? Perhaps when they hear of it at Montreal, they will be less severe in their remarks upon their friends.
It is strange! It is passing strange!—That an enemy at the very theatre of war! should reproach the people of Massachusetts for lukewarmness towards them and their cause! We have never doubted, that the Henry plot was a reality; and every day confirms our first impression.
