Chocolate Custard Pie

1 tbsp. gelatin
1/4 c. cold water
3 slightly beaten egg yolks
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup milk, scalded
1 tsp. vanilla
3 egg whites beaten stiff
1 c. cream, whipped

Cook in double boiler. Add gelatine dissolved in water to the custard, fold in egg whites. Cool, fold in whipped cream.

Crust: Chocolate Wafers.
1 1/2 c. crumbs
1/3 c. melted butter

Mix butter with crumbs. Press into pie plate. Bake 10 minutes in moderate oven. Save 1/4 c. crumbs for top of pie.
Cool crust before putting in filling.
