Populist Nominees Have Gone Bodily Over
to the Republicans
Austin, Texas, October 26 Fusion took
a new turn here today. County Populist
Chairman Sullivan had a talk with State
Chairman Bradley over the long distance
telephone, as a result of which he and
County Republican Chairman Bell amended
the lists of candidates they had previously
filed with the county commissioners. As
amended Mr. Sullivan's list now contains
nothing but the names of the populist
electors and that of Reddin Andrews
populist nominee for congress. On the
other hand, Republican Chairman Bell
certifies to the republican electors and
avers that George W. Glasscock, for court
of civil appeals, S. M. Woolsey for the
State senate and Jerome Kearby et al, for
the State offices, and the county fusion
nominees, who are mostly populists, are
republican nominees, and asks that their
names be put in the republican column.
This is fusion with a vengeance, the
practical effect of which will be the side-
tracking of the populists' electors and of
Populist Candidate for Congress Andrews
in this city. In other words the populist
nominees have boldly jumped into the re-
publican column and given their presiden-
tial electors the marble heart.

County Populist Chairman Sullivan consulted State Chairman Bradley by phone, leading him and Republican Chairman Bell to amend candidate lists. Sullivan's list retained only Populist electors and Andrews for Congress, while Bell certified Republican electors and various nominees, including fusion candidates mostly Populists, as Republicans, effectively sidelining Populist electors and Andrews.
