Burke Farmers Increase
Potato, Vegetable Crops

MORGANTON, June 14.-Farmers of Burke county have made a good response to the appeal for more foodstuffs by planting increased acreages of Irish potatoes and most vegetable crops.

J. L. Sloan, farm agent, reports the seasons have been favorable for all garden crops that thrive under conditions of cool nights and plenty of rainfall.

Garden peas have been more plentiful than for many years, with plenty to eat and a surplus to can. Onions, cabbage, beets, and other vegetables have also done well.
