Falls Firemen Paint Meeting Room Green

Columbia Falls Volunteer firemen "did it up green" at a special meeting, Thursday evening. Project was redecorating their new meeting room in the town hall basement. Previously they removed a dividing partition to form one large room. Despite advice of Dean Harrison and Roy Anders, paint supervisors, walls were painted pale green before the ceiling received its coat of cream colored paint. Thus, the ceiling became pale green also, to eliminate speckled walls. Not necessarily a direct result of overhead work, but the final paint project was to apply a coat of dark green to the floor. Bill Smith and Howard Greene were official "trim" painters. Carpenters under direction of Vic Nadeau and Bud Darling, cased the new archway. Timekeeper from the one easy chair vantage point was Bert Hill. Material was donated. A floor safe was given to the department by Jim Cumming, attorney, whose office space had formerly been in the room. At the business meeting which preceded the work session, final plans for the May 28 countywide volunteer firemen's meeting were made. It will start at 8 p. m. at the local town hall. Hopes are to form a county volunteer firemen's association. Evening's entertainment is being planned by E. J. Lundstrom, Darrel Caley and Charlie Ritter. Fire Chief Howard Greene was presented with his badge from the department. Other business included decision to have the Dodge truck painted. Denny Hutchison will do the lettering.
