Rejoinder, by the Editors of the Federal Republican.
James Biays, of Fell's Point, a notorious coward and unprincipled bully, has issued one of the most false, insolent and seditious publications, it was tossed since the days of Robespierre and the revolutionary histories of the Parisian suburbs. In the conclusion, he threatens us with the sanguinary vengeance of the Point. We wish this wretched patriot and leader of mobs to understand, once for all, that we should despise ourselves, if we did not set him and his adherents at defiance. The mean attempt to sneak out of a disgraceful transaction by falsehood, and an attempt to raise another riot, shall not avail him, on this occasion. The public shall know more of him and the Netley than they yet have done. His suit we court, for it will lead to nothing but his further exposure and disgrace.
Instead of inciting the spirit of the many hundred inhabitants of the Point, against two individuals, we invite the Brevet Major to step forth and become their Goliath, and he shall be certain not to miss his adversaries. For the peaceable and orderly inhabitants of the Point, we entertain the same degree of respect we do and ever shall of contempt for the rabble, who marshal themselves under his banners, come when they will.
Outrageous as the publication is, we do not expect him of penning it. It was no doubt the foul production of one of Smith’s Cowbirds, after his advice to a whip that 'the other fellow' gave place. From faint-heartedness to the publication of this card.
