A Bloody Fight Among the Redskins.

A late dispatch from Kearney Junction gives the particulars of a terrible fight between the Pawnee and Sioux tribes of Indians, at a point about twelve miles above Frenchman's Fork, in the Republican Valley. The Pawnees had prepared that day for a buffalo hunt. The Sioux, being evidently aware of this, stripped their ponies and distributed them around an adjoining hill to lead the Pawnees to believe them buffalo, and also drove a small herd of buffaloes toward the Pawnee camp; whereupon the best of the Pawnee warriors started out for the buffalo. The Sioux immediately attacked the camp where there were but squaws and a few warriors, and they succeeded in killing about fifty of the squaws before the return of the warriors, when a desperate fight commenced. The Pawnees, stung to frenzy at the loss of their squaws, fought like demons, but being greatly at a disadvantage through numbers and arms, were soon compelled to make a retreat. They fled to the river, and crossed, when the Sioux gave up the chase. The Sioux numbered about 150 and the Pawnees only about 300. The latter lost the route and that of about five hundred buffalo. They also lost about one hundred warriors, and one hundred and fifty ponies. The Sioux lost but thirty warriors. The Sioux were what is known as the Whistler band of Ogalalla Sioux, under their chief, Snow Take, the successor of Whistler. A young gentleman named Platt, from Baltimore, who was out on the hunt with the Pawnees, was captured and soon after released. The soldiers from Fort McPherson arrived after the fight, and drove back the Sioux to their reservation.
