We have been shown a private letter dated at "Poe's Tavern, 14 miles N. E. of Chattanooga, Aug. 29," from an officer of Gen. Hazen's command, in which it is stated that a number of rebel prisoners was captured there, the most of them of the 35th Tennessee, Col. B. J. Hill. The writer adds:

"Deserters come in every day in large numbers, and I was informed by two who left a few days since, that on the 19th inst., Hill's regiment only numbered 80 men; on the following day it numbered only 64. They also state that all the Tennessee Regiments are becoming depleted equally as rapidly, besides Kentucky and Texas regiments."

He says also—

"A loyal man by the name of Castor is now organizing a company of East Tennesseans, and has enlisted about fifty from this neighborhood."

Good for the East Tennessee loyalists. They are glad to have an opportunity to strike for their own redemption.
