ON A LATE MARRIAGE.
The tuneful birds begin to sing
Their notes the evening grace,
While Anna hails the breathing Spring,
In Hymen's soft embrace.
Let sportive Naiades sing of Love,
And wake the lonely vale,
Let rustic pipes enchant the grove,
With music's softest gale.
The earliest flowers of blooming May,
Shall Anna's temples twine,
Their fragrance dream the hours away
In ecstasy divine!
Peace to thy lot! thou happy pair,
In friendship's garden rove,
Each green retreat your pleasure share,
And echo constant love.
