"Willie the Womack Fish" was tossed into the Warsaw Sound between buoys 8 and 9 on Wednesday, August 26 at 3:15 P.M.
"Willie" is a 1½ lb. trout which was caught and released within a few seconds while he was still kicking and clearly tagged with two plastic discs, one red and one white, with the secret number on it in four digits which will identify "Willie" when it is caught. This fish, when caught, will be worth a basket of Groceries at Womack's Grocery Store at 1221 Wheaton, for as many weeks as it takes to catch him, plus a brand new Evinrude three horse power motor through the courtesy of Chatham Marine Co. at 130 West Broad Street.
More than likely this trout will be swimming up the Wilmington River this time of year, and the WSOK management found lots of fishermen already after him on the way in after releasing "Willie" Wednesday afternoon. This is one of a series of interesting and original mission headed up by Mr. Andrews for his advice and cooperation in getting this famous fish in the water. As soon as this one is caught, there will be another released with other prizes and WSOK expects to keep a prize fish in the water for at least a year. If "Willie" isn't caught within a reasonable time, WSOK will release a fish in some pond or lake where it is bound to be caught, or award this same prize for the largest fish caught on a certain week-end.
