Ten boys, only two of them older than 11 years of age, were arrested late Monday night and early Tuesday morning in a sweeping police round-up of young burglary suspects, police said.
Seven of the youths were implicated in the same burglary. The other three were said to be the ones who damaged some business property on July 14 to the tune of $212.39, police reported.
The latter youths smashed 62 window panes, and stole several pieces of equipment from a business located at 1661 DeKalb Ave, four days ago. They were picked up after three other youths found at the scene of the crime told police about their accomplices.
The seven youths broke into a service station on Northside Drive, S. W., late Monday night and took out some three dollars in change and a quantity of cookies.
Police said the seven youths admitted their roles in the offense and admitted that they had entered other buildings during the past month with the intent to burglarize them. Their targets, police said they were told, included a school on Beckwith St., S. W.
All of the boys were taken to Juvenile Detention Home and held there pending further investigation on suspicion of burglary.
