DUBLIN, October 6.
A private letter from Raphoe says, that on the 23d of September, in the morning upwards of 1,200 men, well armed, entered the town, in order of battle, went through it in every direction, for upwards of an hour, and then marched to the principal church where one of them read a proclamation, by which they were all determined no longer to pay tithes. The people who bear the name of Hearts of Oak, retired in good order and without committing the least violence; but they gave notice they should return on the Sunday following in greater numbers, and then would further explain their intentions.
