THE FOURTH OF JULY.
The Jackson Leaders are ever and anon at work laboring with a zeal worthy of a better cause, to forestall and influence public opinion. They have now got a "private and confidential" Circular afloat through the State, addressed to those deemed most confidential, praying their zealous exertions to get up dinner parties, and toast the General as often as possible everywhere. The friends of the Administration do not resort to such tricks. They rest upon the solid merits of their cause. It is, however, not doubted but the next celebration of the Declaration of Independence will put forth such an array of Democratic strength as will appal the enemies of American Manufactures and Internal Improvement. The ebbing of the tide is carrying off a large number of Gen. Jackson's partizans, while the growing conviction,—the increasing strength of Mr. Adams, and the assurance that he will get the vote of Democratic Pennsylvania, float his friends into public view in such numbers as really astounds those who have heretofore, from ignorance of the state of public opinion, been reposing on the pillow of security.
