FILIPINO GUNMAN MUST FACE TRIAL FOR SHOOTING OFFICER

WESTMORLAND, Nov. 22.—Raymondo Tagorda, diminutive Filipino, must face trial in superior court on a charge of attempting to murder Harold Dickerson, police officer, in a spectacular gun battle here Nov. 16.

After a preliminary hearing in Westmorland justice court Monday, bail was set at $5000. The islander is held on two counts, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to commit murder, and violation of the law forbidding an alien to carry a gun.

Date of the trial has not been set in superior court, pending Tagorda's arraignment and plea in El Centro.

Dickerson is recovering in Brawley hospital from two bullet wounds, one in the right elbow and one in the back. The wounds were said to have been inflicted by a gun in Tagorda's hands.
