OUR SCHOOLS.
No Law Affecting Our School System Passed.

NASHVILLE, TENN., March 31, 1875.

To the Editor of the Banner:

For the information of the friends of our public school system, please state that no law affecting the present status of the schools, in any manner, was passed at the late session of our General Assembly. An act was passed requiring collectors of taxes to pay over the State poll tax, levied for the benefit of schools, to the County Trustees, instead of the Treasurer of the State as heretofore, and thence to be distributed to the school districts. It is also hoped that a noble beginning may be made for Normal schools from the act establishing a Board of Education. But this depends upon plans which will be developed hereafter.

Very respectfully,
Leon Trousdale,
State Supt. of Public Instruction.
