"By a gentleman of my acquaintance who left Canada last Saturday night, where he has been concealed ever since Dec. last, for important purposes, I am informed, that during the winter upwards of 100 pieces of artillery passed the house, on the main road from Montreal to Kingston, in which he was secreted, designed no doubt for the British fleet on the lake.
"Major Gen. Brown, with between 3 and 4000 men, artillery and infantry, marched from Sacket's Harbor, on Monday last, destined for the Niagara frontier.
"The public eye, in this quarter, is rapidly fixing its attention on this gentleman, as the conductor of the next campaign: in the event of general Wilkinson's recall, of whom it is said, "he is arrested."
