GEN. HUGH SCOTT
HERE SUNDAY ON
RETURN TO EAST

Accompanied by Gen. John
A. Johnston and Colonel
Slocum; Visited Snake
Dance: at Santa Fe Today

Maj. Gen. Hugh L. Scott, former chief of staff of the United States army and now a member of the board of Indian commissioners, was in Albuquerque yesterday on his return from Arizona points, where he visited the Hopi snake dance and made an inspection of the Navajo Indian reservation. He was accompanied by Gen. John A. Johnston and Colonel Slocum.

General Scott has a wide acquaintance over the southwest, having been dealing with the plains Indians for nearly half a century.

He expressed himself as well pleased with the snake dance, even though accommodations were somewhat difficult to secure.

The three officers were taken for a ride around Albuquerque yesterday and were given a dinner at the home of Capt. Ira N. Sprecker.

They will leave today for Santa Fe, being taken there by Albert G. Simms and Mr. Sprecker. They expect to return in time to take the afternoon limited train east.
