Should Occur Oftener.
The heir to Austria-Hungary's throne
Has married a hired girl,
And all the heads of royalty
Are in an angry whirl,
But to plain people everywhere
'Twill seem a good report
Because she's virtuous, true and fair
And such a happy match may bear
Some honest blood to court.
Sure, 'twill not be too soon at that
And 'twould be better far
If oftener these princelings proud
Would play Cinderella.
Upon the people rests the throne
The state do they support.
And from their muscle, brain and bone
There springs that soundness which alone
Takes honest blood to court.
The heir to Austria-Hungary's throne
Has married a hired girl,
And all the heads of royalty
Are in an angry whirl,
But to plain people everywhere
'Twill seem a good report
Because she's virtuous, true and fair
And such a happy match may bear
Some honest blood to court.
Sure, 'twill not be too soon at that
And 'twould be better far
If oftener these princelings proud

Upon the people rests the throne

And from their muscle, brain and bone
There springs that soundness which alone
Takes honest blood to court.
