AURORA.
We would not have copied this article from the Aurora, if it had not struck us as being connected with, and intended in our opinion to produce the effect with report, which reached us some time since.
From authority, which we do place the utmost confidence in, we learned that Mr. Robert Smith stated in conversation, that Mr. Pinkney would probably not return to this country, but intended to remain in England, and practice the Law, when his mission we terminated. When we received this information our mind was prepared for Mr. Pinkney's denunciation—It was said carelessly, and the hearer left to make his own comment—That we may readily suppose. If Mr. Pinkney has determined to remain in England he must be attached to that country more than his own. We do not believe the report, and set it down for nothing more nor less than a mean artifice to destroy Mr. Pinkney in the public estimation. We are not the advocates of Mr. P. but we detest such low artifices.
