NEW YORK, August 13.

Just before the General Wall Packet Boat left Falmouth, the Groyne Packet arrived and brought Advice, That the King of Spain was in a fair Way of recovering from his late grievous Indisposition.

The Earl of Halifax Packet Boat, Capt. Morris, was repairing at Falmouth when the General Wall sailed, and it was thought would come off about the 20th of June with the Mail for that Month.

The Concord, Capt. Jacobson, the Noble Galley, Capt. Manchester; the Neptune Capt. Rose; the Exeter, Capt. Wolfe, (the two last with cloathing) were to leave London for New-York about the 20th of June.

On Wednesday Evening last, Mr. Prescott, Aid de Camp to General Amherst, came to Town from Crown Point, on his Way to London, carrying the very agreeable and interesting Intelligence to all his Majesty's Dominions, of the General's being in the quiet Possession of the Fortress at that Place, which he entered the 4th of this Instant, AUGUST, with his whole Army, the Enemy having evacuated the same some Days before, it having blew up the Citadel, and one of the Bastions. The Fortifications were very trifling, as they were overlooked and commanded from several Eminences. The General has ordered another to be built which he tells us will cover the whole Country. On this Occasion the Cannon on Fort George were discharged, and this City handsomely illuminated.

There being no other Packet Boat here but the General Wall, who arrived on Tuesday, he was immediately ordered to get ready to carry Mr. Prescott over, and Yesterday he fell down accordingly, and carried the Mail with her.

Brigadier General Gage is gone to take the command at Niagara; and we hear that Sir William Johnson is soon to join General Amherst with his Indians.

We are told that when our People took Possession of Crown Point, not more than four or five Pieces of Cannon could be found, and nothing else of any Value: They had Set a Match to a small Magazine that was in the Fort, but the Soldiers extinguished the same before it could do any Damage.
