A late French paper says that nothing is spoken of in the higher circle, but the disappearance and deplorable end of the Marquis de Falaiseau, Inspector General of the King's household. The police and the officers of justice are engaged in the investigation of this affair, which is said to be accompanied by horrible circumstances; and in which persons of some rank in the world are reported to be implicated. His family, it is said, has received a note, in which the victim announced, that being under the dagger, and having only a few moments at his command before dying he made use of them to give information respecting his melancholy fate. An event hitherto covered with a gloomy and mysterious veil, gives rise to innumerable conjectures. What is positively known is, that M. de Falaiseau has disappeared, and that no reason is known which could have induced him to abscond, or to conceal himself.
