Full Text

Mobile. The yellow fever raging in Mobile at the last dates. The disease is supposed to have been produced by the disinterment of those who died of the fever in 1819. A story has gone round in the papers, of which the gist was that a Malay Balloon Goat had recently died in Mobile, in consequence of which the unfortunate had been for several days baying at the moon, but prohibited on the pain of death from entering any house or enclosure whatever and he had been compelled to stay away on the dirty lane leaning at the gate. The account was published with the list of deaths in the New Orleans papers. But subsequently it was an imposition upon the public, and that the story was founded upon the death of one of those harmless tom cats, which had been in the habit of haunting the streets of that city.
