Be Generous

Now that election is over and Christmas is far enough away that it occupies the dominant mind of young America only, let us consider for a moment the Red Cross.

It should not be necessary to ask anyone to contribute to that worthy institution. Pocketbooks should be freely and voluntarily opened when the time comes, money poured in so fast that only a shout of "Enough" can stop the golden flow.

But human minds and hearts are not built that way. It is however, unnecessary to point out the work that has been done or to prove that the Red Cross deserves every cent it asks. We all know that. There is no better, no more economical method of providing for the community's needs.

Repeatedly, too, has it been demonstrated that from a purely mercenary standpoint, from the standpoint of tax dollars in our pockets, the Red Cross is a good investment. It stands between the average citizen and abuse of public funds for alleged charitable purposes.

Be generous with the Red Cross.
