The drive to get the most out of the intensive campaign ever waged in Dade County to get at least 50 per cent plus one of the freeholders to vote was climaxed this week in the drive for Bonds for Beds at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The election is Tuesday, November 7th.
For the bond issue to be successful, 50% freeholders must vote and a majority of those voting must favor the bonds to provide $6,000,000 for expansion of Jackson Memorial's bed facilities.
All newspapers, radio stations and other media have been enlisted in the drive to get the freeholders to the polls on election day, each contributing their efforts as a public service. In addition a direct mail campaign successful, approximately 70, has been undertaken on a limited scale together with activities by various civic fraternal business and religious organizations.
The county's public school children also have been mustered into service to see that their parents and neighbors, who are freeholders take the time to go to the polls.
A countywide organization

has been formed to provide transportation to the polls and even baby sitters for the convenience of the voters.
Anyone needing transportation, who resides north of South Miami can obtain this service by telephoning "Bonds for Beds at Jackson" headquarters, 2-2205 or 2-2209.
The educational campaign has been waged around the urgency of the need for additional beds at Jackson. If an epidemic or disaster should occur, it would result in a real catastrophe, and the possibility of an enemy attack with casualties from atomic, bacteriological or other as yet undisclosed methods of modern warfare would bring about indescribable chaos.
