What is this article about?
A fire broke out early Thursday evening in Samuel Farley's printing house on the New Dock in the city, causing significant damage to his dwelling and the adjacent tavern owned by Widow Vernon before being extinguished by residents using the nearby river. Abundant paper fueled the flames, but low wind prevented greater devastation in the dry, wooden-built area.

Event Details
a Fire broke out in the upper back Apartments of the Dwelling House of Mr. Samuel Farley... which did great Damage to that and the House next adjoining in Possession of the Widow Vernon, Tavern keeper... notwithstanding the very quick Attendance and exemplary Industry of the Inhabitants, and the Advantage of the River being close at Hand. There was a large Quantity of Paper in the Printing Office, which... added much to the Violence of the Flames: And it was happy for the City we had but little Wind that Eve, otherwise... that terrible Element must have made prodigious Devastation at that Part of the Town, the Buildings being mostly Wood, and the Season very dry.
