THE METHODIST FAIR.

The display of attractions at the opening of the Fair last night, fully realized the pictures made by its originators.— The Union Church was transformed into a spacious hall, in which was conveniently arranged a number of tables freighted with toys and trinkets, articles of considerable value and articles of much less, things to eat and things to wear, things to buy and things you couldn't buy but could vote for,—around which said tables flitted a fair sex, tripping and traveling a throng of happy-looking, joy-intent human beings; the whole making up a scene pleasing to the eye and gratifying to contemplate.

We could be pleased to enter into a description of the several tables, of which there were near ten, but our limited space denies us that pleasure. And, besides, to do so would anticipate some of our readers in the enjoyment of the entertainment prepared for their benefit.

The result of last night's dealings, we imagine, was very satisfactory. One single article, a handsome doll, brought, upon a vote, $162, the winner being Miss Hudeling, who ought to feel flattered at her popularity and at her success over two other very attractive young misses.

The Cornet Band, their new instruments just received, made delightful music during the progress of the Fair, enlivening the occasion and contributing to the general pleasure of the gathering.

The two handsome flags prepared for the Fire, and Hook and Ladder Companies, were duly presented and received. They are really splendid silk flags, and will no doubt be greatly prized by the boys of the Fire Department.

The Fair, it will be remembered, will be open night and day until Christmas day, and additions to the exposition will be made each day as it progresses. We were pleased to see some of our Trenton friends down last night, and hope the delegation will be largely augmented to-night.—Daily, 22nd.
