RICHMOND, JAN. 18, 1825.
Mr.- -, Sir, after my respects to you and your family Sir inform you that I am tollerble well thanks be to god for his mercys hoping that these few lines may reach you and your family well and Like-wise my friend -- and his family which I wish you to give my best respects to him and your neighbors likewise there has been a good deal of local business done in the house but nothing very important as yet the convention bill was called up but not acted upon as yet but I believe it will pass so far as to take the votes of the people next april to know whether it is a majority of the people that wishes it the pole will be forwarded to the Executive after taking the pole and then he will issue a proclamation to the people sir there is one other subject before the house that is the case of gen. La Fayette the Expenditures at york town. which gives a considerable contesting in the house--whether it shall pass or not and to be paid out of the treasure which it my opinion that it should not be taken out of the public funds I have opposed the Bill in all its shapes to mend the matter that was a invitation given to the gen. L. Fayett to pay us a visit in a few days which will be attended to with more expense for the public which it is hateful to me at this time to be frollicking the public money away when the people has so hard to make it no more at present but remain yours with respect.
