Farm Plans Are Approved By Soil District

The regular meeting of the Noble Soil Conservation district supervisors was held in the Soil Conservation service office at the K of C building, Tuesday, March 8. The supervisors have purchased an additional tree planter. They now have two planters for rent to Noble county farmers and district cooperators. They rent for $3.00 per thousand trees planted.

Mr. Ball reported on the visit to Washington SCD last month.

Three applications were accepted as cooperators by the board. These new cooperators are: Donald Carpenter, Beaver township, 104 acres; A. J. Crock, Olive township, 47 acres; and Gordon Secrest, Noble and Brookfield township, 220 acres.

The board approved conservation plans developed by cooperators with assistance of SCS personnel. The cooperators developing these plans were: Charles Stiers, Buffalo township, 189 acres; Rudy Larrick, Buffalo township, 202 acres; Dan Warren, Jackson and Jefferson townships, 165 acres, and G. T. Jennings, Noble township, 24 acres.

These plans include pasture improvement, conservation cropping systems, woodland protection and tree planting. Other practices include drainage, ditches, tile, diversions, sod waterways, springs, ponds and wildlife areas.

A tour of the woodland management on some of the woodlands of Muskingum Watershed Conservancy district will be held March 24. The tour will leave from the courthouse about 8:30 that date.

A special meeting will be held to judge essays on March 14. Batesville and Sarahsville were the only schools represented in the essay contest.
