MADRID, JULY 3.

The following is an account of the quantity of
gold, silver, and copper coin, struck at the mint
in Mexico, since the commencement of January,
1811, the era of the unfortunate insurrection of
New Spain, until this year. In 1811, 1,085,363
piastres in gold, 8,956,452 in silver; in 1812,
381,646 piastres in gold, 4,027,620 in silver; in
1813, 6,133,983 piastres in silver; in 1814, 618,
069 piastres in gold, 6,902,841 in silver, 103,555
in copper; in 1815, 486,464 piastres in gold,
6,454,799 in silver, 101,556 in copper; in 1816,
560,393 piastres in gold, 8,315,616 in silver,
125,281 in copper; in 1817, 854,942 piastres in
gold, 5,994,951 in silver; in 1818, 533,921 piastres
in gold, 10,852,367 in silver. Total, 4,920,798
piastres in gold, 59,658,229 in silver, 330,392 in
copper. Making in all 64,889,419 piastres. In
this table are not comprised 19,046,188 piastres,
fabricated in 1810, because, the insurrection having
taken place on the 16th of December of that
year, and the first six months of which being past,
the gathering of the metals was already made, and
the riches of these times of happiness was infinitely
superior to the produce of the subsequent
years, even to the present time; thus we are enabled
to estimate, at the rate of forty millions of
francs in the year, the produce of the mines of
Mexico, in spite of the calamities of a civil war,
which has lasted since the year 1810.
