LONDON, Dec. 4.

The following extract of a letter from Ludlow, in Shropshire, was sent us by a correspondent. You will be surprised when I acquaint you of the sudden death of your old friend C.B. and one circumstance, which he related himself, was very remarkable. The evening before he died he went into his chamber, in the dark, to fetch something he had forgot, and on his entry saw a representation of his own person, so clearly standing before him as quite alarmed him. He then called for a light, but could see nothing then of the figure that appeared before. Upon going to an inn in the town, to meet a society of Gentlemen, he had not been long seated before he expired without a groan. What adds to the extraordinary circumstance of this story was that a large rat jumped upon his chair back, which was afterwards killed by the waiter.
