Full Text

BALTIMORE, April 18.

Extract of a letter from Frederick-Town, April 12.

"A horrid act was committed here on Saturday morning. Capt. Rim, of the Hereditary Prince of Hesse's regiment, cut his throat with a razor and penknife, of which he died an hour or two afterwards. A surgeon attempted to close the wound by a suture, but the unhappy man forced him away, and pointing to the instruments of death, motioned as if he wished him to enlarge the wound. We know not the cause of this desperate act. It is said he attempted to kill himself some time past, but was prevented by his friend. He has been low-spirited a long time."
