Are Florida, LeMoyne
Langston, Va. State
And Morgan Our Best?
This no-lose-with-ill-will is that there is no certain formula for success. Winning depends on men, on precise execution of assignments, on spirit and fundamentals.
Take a look around the center at the sectional leaders and I'm sure you'll see what I'm talking about.
We go into November with Morgan and Virginia State leading in the East, Kentucky State and Tennessee State in the Middle West, Florida and LeMoyne in the South.
These six teams, they may be defeated before the month is out, but they are the only ones which have been once or even twice beaten. It takes a lot to kick off these proud outfits before December arrives.
At least it fits in with big-time college football is played these days, no one pieces also note weakness. But victory and defeat constitute the most inherent measure who certainly a team which has met good competition without defeat as late as November first, cannot be snickered. Down.
Florida And LeMoyne
The Florida and LeMoyne tilt in Dixie. They happen to be somewhat alike in methods, rugged enough on defense and speed merchants in their running offenses, fundamentally sound in their methods of attack and outfitted with backs able to keep the pressure on for sixty minutes.
You can slip up on a man like Florida, as Morris Brown did last week but any minute of football is a long time, and that includes how you play the second half.
LeMoyne depends mostly on deception and the break. T-formation single wing tactics of Morris Brown.
Virginia State, in my opinion best defense team, not high-scoring but relying on the power of big, fast charging forward wall.
The Wild LeMoyne combine passing with running power highly.
Texas, Langston, Wiley
The Southwest teams are making the forward pass a major phase of their attack. This is due to the gigantic physical specimens that make up their teams men too big and too powerful to move out of the rut of power attack.
I still say the team with well-planned, powerful offense doesn't have to use the forward pass except as a threat.
I have never been impressed with the brilliance of plays used by Southwest teams unless they pass profusely their scores are always low. They have so much defense that the offense is reduced to drab diminution.
I like the quick deception of Virginia State, Florida, Kentucky State or LeMoyne.
Atlanta fans may be pleased with LeMoyne's stuff in Atlanta today. In Morris Brown their line is going to be very, very tough and when that is hurting look for loop-the-loop laterals, hyper-joint and every other wild method of goal line denting.
