Aug 16. We hear that several C--t ladies, celebrated for their beauty and devotion to the Cyprian Goddess, are strenuously contending for the honour of making conquest of a Great Personage lately arrived there, for which purpose the whole artillery of female art is used. The contest chiefly lies between two, who miss no opportunity of shooting Cupid's arrows from their sparkling lambent eyes, at his but hitherto without any apparent effect: however there are so many snares and ambushes laid for him, that it's fear'd he can hardly avoid being caught in some of them.
