The following card of thanks from Mayor Deanes should have appeared in our last issue but in the rush of getting out the paper was unavoidably left over.
Editor East Miss. Times:
Through the columns of your paper I desire to express, to those citizens of Starkville who presented me with the beautiful walking-cane at the January meeting of the board, my heart-felt thanks and high appreciation. This act upon the part of friends and citizens, I take to be a recognition of my services and an endorsement of my administration as Mayor. And right here let me say that it has inspired me with new resolves to continue to perform my duty as I see it. Aside from the official significance of the presentation, as an individual I especially feel grateful to the donors for this act of unselfish friendship, upon their part.
With the best wishes to one and all, and the hope, that all good citizens will co-operate with the administration in giving Starkville a good and satisfactory government.
I am cordially yours,
J. D. DEANES.
