Ben Young Reports On Anchorage Meeting Of Road Commissioners

Ben Young, Second Division representative on the Board of Road Commissioners, returned from the first meeting of the new board held in Juneau.

He reports an interesting meeting with several accomplishments.

Several changes were made in the traffic regulations with the recommendations of the Territorial Police.

Funds from the gas tax were separated from funds of the vehicle tax, he reports, with the gas tax being divided among the divisions in the same proportion as received.

The vehicle tax will be divided in the same manner, only that the other divisions will allot 10 percent of their share toward the road building in Second Division on a road which will ultimately be part of the international road system which now terminates at Fairbanks.

Young stated that he feels the new board with its members from all parts of the territory will be able to accomplish much good for all parts of the territory.
