BARGAIN CARNIVAL
The most profitable portion of The Democrat today is likely confined to the four pages of special advertising carried by the merchants in connection with the recovery drive of the Federal Government and the annual Fall Bargain Carnival. This event must not be confused with the ordinary sales events. Boone merchants are simply attempting to continue to do their part in backing the President, and are willing to sacrifice goods bought on a low market in order that circulation of money may be loosed. It would be infinitely more to the advantage of the retailers to hold their goods until prices advance still more and get the benefit of the increased price, but they don't want to do this. They want to help out and give the public the benefit of the price advance. They are doing this in a big way and folks ought to reciprocate by buying all the things they have neglected to buy during the panic. The advertising matter today should command the attention of all readers. Buying now is simply good business.
