The Virginia Gazette, of the 14th inst. mentions a meeting of sundry merchants of that state at Petersburg on the 1st and 3d of Dec. inst. to consider on the expediency of establishing a State Bank. At the Second meeting they came to the following resolution, "That it be recommended to the citizens of this commonwealth, in general, and to the mercantile towns in particular, that they meet by their representatives in the city of Richmond on the first day of May next, to consider the propriety of an application to the general assembly for the establishment of a state bank."
